THE LAST GOOD SHOOT (2018)

Summer 2018 was that of grief and heartache. My brother, Grayson ‘GRK’ Kitzen, changed his sound and bared his soul on his EP ‘The Last Good Year’ after the unexpected death of our father. Having been staged in our parents garage, ‘The Last Good Shoot’ represents our new normal of being uncomfortable in the places we call home while having a spotlight in our minds constantly reminding us of what was and now is. Sometimes the sight of you not being there is just too much to bare…

And I know that you’re not coming through that door again…

Sometimes it feels like you’re still with me but I think it’s just the wind.

A Delusional shoot (2017)

Inspired by the atmospheric sounds and themes of ‘Delusions’, an album by Columbus, Ohio recording artist / producer Grayson ‘GRK’ Kitzen, ‘A Delusional Shoot’ is a visual representation of the creative process. Coupled with poems crafted by GRK during the early stages of his album, this series is meant to embody the fictional world that we craft around us.

RETICULATION (2016)

Re•tic•u•la•lion. Reticulation is defined as “a pattern or arrangement of interlacing lines resembling a net.” While free roaming various forests I had come across many textures, smells, and sights. In these series I attempt to literally ‘net’ some of the things I experienced by honing in on some of the intimate details of the environment.

VALUE CARPET (2015)

This series is a documentary series following the day to day in a small store Value Carpet located in Canton, Ohio and owned by my Grandfather, Jerry Kitzen. The project was captured in 400 TMAX Kodak black and white film and hand developed on 5"x7" semi-gloss paper.

REFLECT (2014)

In fantasy and fairytales the forest has always been a place of mystery, beauty, and the unknown. With inspiration from the classic novel ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ by C. S. Lewis, I aim to capture that same sense of wonder and whimsy in this self portrait series.

SOCIAL BUTTERFLY (2014)

Inspired by the work of Gregory Crewdson and classic Universal Horror films of the early 20th Century, ‘Social Butterfly’ is the visual representation of feeling like an outsider.
